English Garden

The "English Walled Garden" is part of the Chicago Botanic Gardens and actually includes
about six different courtyards, some with walls of stone and some with walls of
shrubbery.  "White Montauk Daisies" and "Bolero Orange Hardy Garden Mums."

This was new this year - the giant Snake Gourd, with several gourds hanging
almost seven feet down.

This beautiful courtyard, with pool and several fountains and a view over the lake
looks like part of an English country home.  "Montauk White Daisies."

"Wild English White Roses" growing on the walls.

"Whirlwind White Japanese Anemones" were in full bloom.

"Clair de Lune Collarette Dahlias"

"Bolero Hardy Garden Mums" were cascading down the stairs.

Another of the courtyards has a trellis and wall dedicated to morning glories,
here in solid white and solid blue.  Behind on the wall are variegated.

"Variegated Blue and White Morning Glories."

 "Golden Flash Tickweed"

"Edana Red Chrysanthemums"
These were small but in great masses.

"Edana Red Mums" form a massive ball.

"Zowie!  Yellow Flame Zinnias."  There were very few zinnias around, but this
was a dramatic new variety on the hillside.

Then, on the path to the Rose Garden, there were masses of "Atomic Orange Mums."

The "Rose Garden."
There are several hundred varieties of roses, and hundreds of plants of each variety.
There are some roses blooming at all times from early June until now, almost the
beginning of November.  All of these varieties will do well in Chicago gardens.
